I would like to welcome everyone to MyJimWalterHome.com
The original purpose of building this website was to show off my new home and property to friends and relatives. My house didn't turn out well at all. After a lot of research I have found many complaints. It was decided that this website would be introduced as a place for sharing consumer information so others might be better informed before they make their home purchase. Please feel free to join and post your stories and photo's. There are also photo's of my house as the featured home in the Photo Gallery along with others if anyone is interested in seeing how a Jim Walter Home is built. Dream Home to Nightmare!
Construction Stories
I purchased my home from the Jackson, Tn. office of Jim Walter Homes in March of 2005. I am still not in my home. I signed all the forms, contract, arbitration agreement, warranty agreements and such not knowing that Jim Walter Homes would lean on these agreements so heavily or even need the arbitration agreement. I was told by the salesman I would be in my house in 3 months. One week after the sale I had done everything I was told to do by JWH. The driveway was down, the well was drilled and electricity was established. A construction manager came out a few days later. He was rude, talked down to my wife, and acted as if he didn't want to deal with a woman. We requested that he not be allowed back on our property. A few days later another construction manager showed up from Jonesboro, Ark.. He was given the necessary information that was needed and he promised to begin construction soon. Two and a half months later construction had still not begun. We complained and threatened to back out. A week later a brick layer was sent out to lay the foundation. This was, in my opinion, the only part of this house that was done correctly. He was done after about 3 days. It was another month before any framers showed up to begin building. The framers consisted of an elderly man and his two sons. They worked for about a week and basically got to a point where the sub-floor was laid. They then disappeared for 2 weeks. During this time, naturally, it rained and they had left all the lumber uncovered and exposed along with the press board sub-floor that had been put down. When they reappeared it was only the two young sons. They worked for 2 days and then they were gone for another 2 weeks.

The Pot calls the Kettle Black!
Industry NewsHere is an interesting story. Jim Walters has filed a lawsuit against another company for shoddy work and breech of contract. It's a very strange situation when a company that does this kind of stuff everyday sues another for the same reasons. I particularly like the second paragraph. Click the read more link below to read the article. Don't forget to leave your comments!
